Do Something for Others – Believe in Yourself

I get to work with some pretty impressive people. Sometimes when I look at their resumes, I am intimidated. It’s not that I want to pat myself on the back, but I want to shed a light on something. There seems to be a universal truth that we (yes even the impressive ones) fall victim to our behavioral weaknesses when we feel scared, threatened, or overwhelmed. In short, when we don’t believe in ourselves.

It’s easy to be aware that you complain, take over, hide for cover, or give in when you feel “stressed.” What is harder to admit, is that so much of that stress comes from our fear that we are not good enough. That we won’t do a good enough job. What’s odd is that the fear often grows strongest when we are doing really well. So this season, do something for others. Embrace your inner Stuart Smalley, “I am good enough, smart enough and doggonit, people like me!”

You are perfect, and right where you need to be. Embrace that, and I promise you will show more patience, more courage, more openness and more generosity. That is a wonderful gift to give this season.

Happy Holidays,

Claire
