The 5-Second Rule and Speaking in Front of Audiences

A shout out to my amazing VA, Kim Wanamaker, for getting me Mel Robbin’s “The Let Them Theory.”

In chapter one Mel talks about her first book, “The 5-Second Rule,” so I went back and read (ok, listened to) that first.

✅ If you haven’t read it yet, I really recommend it.

Mel talks about procrastination. But not procrastinating paying bills or doing the laundry.

She talks about procrastinating your dreams, also known as procrastinating taking your life or career to the next level.

When I was 34, I quit my job. Before I quit, a good friend told me I was crazy, “Why don’t you just line something up for when you get back from your travels?” he said.

But that wasn’t the point. The point was to take a leap and trust that things would be OK.

It was a 5-4-3-2-1 moment.

I traveled for a month, then over a year, I worked at two different freelance jobs.

And I learned a ton. That year set me up for something so much bigger.

Because here’s something I say all the time: There is SO MUCH LEARNING on the other side of action.

With that in mind I want to share that, since “Confidence at Work” was published last week, I’ve been getting all sorts of requests to speak about the book.

I know, you thought I was going to provide tips for how to be less nervous in front of audiences.

I can help with that too, but today’s message is about inviting me to speak about “Confidence at Work” in front of your team, organization or professional association.

If you, your colleagues or your professional network want to learn more about how to build authentic confidence, succeed without burnout, and overall thrive, I’d love to come and share my strategies.

Enjoy this blog? Please spread the word :)
