On one hand, things pick up after winter’s lull. That means there is energy around execution and getting things done – steam roller.
On the other hand, a new vision wants to emerge, but hasn’t yet. That’s like the swirling eddy on the edge of a river.
Combine the two, and it can feel like a coiled spring.
I find that very stressful, like I might make decisions that will throw me off course.
Spring 2001 was like that. I remember because I had spent a year working freelance, figuring out my next move.
In an effort to commit to SOMETHING, I looked into leaving the career I’d built and moving to a resort area to work a service job.
I needed escape.
It was right around this time that a mentor said, “Spring is a time when energy is pent up and we want to things to happen fast. But you just have to look at the buds on the trees. They start slowly, but that doesn’t diminish the beauty of their full bloom.”
Wow.
I’ve thought of this every year since.
* Acknowledge the impatience you may be feeling.
* Savor doing what’s in front of you; it’s not a time to rush.
* Trust that the clarity will come, from the doing, the imagining and the feeling.
Beautiful things are in the works.
