Monday I took a recovery day. It was a busy work week followed by a busy family weekend and I was tired. It’s not that I didn’t do any work, but I called a couple of friends, went on a long walk, took extra time for lunch, and ended the day early. It wasn’t all that different from my most tired days when I worked in corporate.
Here’s what I did notice. I didn’t feel guilty about it. I’ve gotten to the point where I know how to listen to my body and spirit. I trust that the urge to work will come back. And I know that the more I resist downtime, the less benefit I will get from it.
Last week the Center for Creative Leadership sent an article on burnout. I guess I’m right where many of us are. If you need a break, find a way to work it in. You will be happy you did.
Have a great week,
Claire
