Two thirds of you are looking for a new job, while one third want to receive a promotion where you are. 36% don’t know what you want, 36% feel you are not networking effectively, and 12% are either not getting interviews or not getting offers. When it comes to what you want in a webinar, 29% want help figuring out what you want, 36% want help finding opportunities beyond what you see in your organization or on-line, 10% want networking help and 12% want interview techniques.
The drumroll says: Let’s do a webinar about how to figure out what you want and where to dig up those opportunities. Sound good?
What I hear most from clients is a pressure to find the exact right job. It’s not that you should be open to anything (I am v. against that), but the pressure and worry is a creativity killer. Who has daydreamed of a job while you are on vacation, only to get home and talk yourself out of it without ever exploring it? Or who has interviewed for a job you don’t really want, then wondered why it didn’t go so well?
A big problem is that we don’t listen to ourselves. We try to decide what we want to do with our lives by looking at an on-line job posting.
But the answers lie with us. It sounds dreamy but it’s true. What feels the least like work is where we have the greatest impact. Which is why seeing it can be so elusive.
