Motivation Can Sometimes Feel Like A Tug Of War

It’s been an amazing 10 days. I’ve been to and from L.A. for a three-day strategy session, then to and from Maine for four days of skiing. So much inspiration! Part of me is champing at the bit to get moving. And part of me (the part that’s been winning for two days) wants to lounge around and read. Last week a friend sent me a poem that captured the feeling. Sometimes we move fast, other times we move slow. But if we have a vision, our creativity is always working.
A Walk

My eyes already touch the sunny hill,
going far ahead of the road I have begun.
So we are grasped by what we cannot grasp;
it has its inner light, even from a distance–
and changes us, even if we do not reach it,
into something else, which, hardly sensing it,
we already are; a gesture waves us on,
answering our own wave…
but what we feel is the wind in our faces.

If it’s feeling like you haven’t been as productive as you’d like in job search or career, would you take a moment to think it through? Have you seen shifts in your approach, confidence or attitude that are changing you? Those shifts will serve you as you move forward.
